Ministries
Christian Development

The most important responsibilities for the Christian Development Ministry are to promote Christian development, to ensure there are activities available for children, to keep informed regarding developments recommended within the United Church of Canada and to encourage distribution and use of Church literature.
Fellowship & Membership

This committee is to assist in caring for one another, welcome all persons and help them to participate and give leadership to the ministry and activities of the church. To this end they assign committees monthly for Tea & Coffee after church, signing up greeters for each month and welcoming new and returning parishioners. They also arrange potluck dinners each month.
Worship & Music Ministry

Music worship at Trinity United Church Gravenhurst is a musical expression designed to glorify God and to create an atmosphere of spiritual reflection. Our Music Director, Roxanne St. Pierre leads our choir during our weekly services to enhance our spiritual journey and sense of community and compassion. We are fortunate to have a 1954 Cassavant Organ with expanded organ pipes as well as a Yamaha C-3 Grand Piano. We are always welcoming to anyone that would like to join our choir, even if only for special events.
Social Justice / Affirming

At Trinity United Church Gravenhurst, our Affirm/Social Justice Ministry is a vital expression of our faith in action. Since becoming an Affirming congregation in 2018, we have publicly, intentionally, and explicitly committed to the full inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ people in the life and work of our church. Being an Affirming church means we celebrate diversity, challenge discrimination, and work towards equity and justice for all people.
Each year, we host a vibrant Pride Sunday service to honour and affirm the identities and experiences of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We also mark important dates such as Trans Day of Remembrance, reflecting on the lives lost to anti-trans violence, and PIE Day (Public, Intentional, Explicit), which celebrates Affirming ministries across the United Church of Canada.
Our commitment to justice extends beyond gender and sexuality. Every Sunday, we include a Moment for Truth and Reconciliation, honouring the Indigenous peoples of this land and recognizing the ongoing journey of
healing and justice. We strive to educate ourselves and our community, walking in solidarity with Indigenous neighbours.
Trinity also maintains a strong partnership with Gravenhurst Against Poverty (GAP). Many of our members volunteer their time and energy to support GAP’s initiatives. This collaboration reflects our call to serve the broader community with compassion and integrity.
Through worship, education, and action, Trinity United’s Affirm/Social Justice Ministry is a growing movement of hope. All are welcome to join us as we seek to love boldly, act justly, and walk humbly together.
Pastoral Care / Shawl Ministry

To support the Ministry of Trinity by providing emotional and spiritual support for the congregation and the community, especially those facing physical, spiritual or emotional challenges. Our Ministry meets about every 6 weeks to update the minister and each other on the needs of the congregation and to plan for the month ahead. Carol-Ann plus a Pastoral Care member now does a little service plus discussion at the Manor, Granite Ridge, the Alexander and the Doe Lake Residence once/month. Carol-Ann also does a service with Pastoral care help at Muskoka Shores most months.
The Shawl Ministry is now meeting again twice a month on Wednesday mornings in the Fireside Room. Shawls continued to be given to those facing challenges, either in the church or the community plus those celebrating special events. More than 720 shawls have been given out at this time. We are continuing with a program where we send cards to those in the congregation who are celebrating a birthday or dealing with illness or bereavement. Andrea Edgar has taken on this important assignment at the present time.
Recently we have started to contact members who find it difficult to attend services in person so we can keep connected by telephone. Also, we would like to know how we can be more supportive to members of the congregation. Please contact members of the Ministry below or the Church if you would like a visit from the Pastoral Care Ministry or know of someone who would appreciate a visit
Technology, Media & Marketing

To provide oversite of technology and ensure a media presence that is aligned with the values and mission of the church. We are responsible for sound, video and display of the weekly service. We assist during concerts, weddings, funerals and any community events. We are always looking for volunteers… no experience required.

Description of book
Beloved author Ronald Rolheiser continues his search for an accessible and penetrating Christian spirituality in this highly anticipated follow-up to the contemporary classic, The Holy Longing. With his trademark acuity, wit, and thoughtfulness, Rolheiser shows how identifying and embracing discipleship will lead to new heights of spiritual awareness and maturity. In this new book, Rolheiser takes us on a journey through the dark night of the senses and of the spirit. Here, we experience the full gamut of human life, pleasure and fervor, disillusionment and boredom. But, as Rolheiser explains, when we embrace the struggle and yearning to know God we can experience too a profound re-understanding to our daily lives.
